CAPTUS SYSTEMS is proud to introduce another member of our fine Team – John Radocy, CSD. John has joined us as our Senior Systems Engineer – & we are very happy to welcome him into the fold!
CAPTUS: Why did you decide to join the CAPTUS SYSTEMS Team?
JOHN: The first thing that jumped-out at me was the people. I’ve worked with this group in the past, & I know from previous experience that this Team is more than capable, fun to work with, & are a strong, loyal group of professionals. Secondly – it’s the method in which they want to accomplish success…a newer, more refined way of thinking. And lastly – it’s the types of projects they’re targeting…projects that leverage the latest in technology & infrastructure.
CAPTUS: What sparked your interest in the Audio-VisualIindustry to begin with?
JOHN: Ever since I was very young, I’ve had a need – a yearning to understand how things worked. So much so, that I used to disassemble all of my toys! This way of thinking always drew me to mechanical devices (cars, machinery, boats, planes etc.), and electronic devices (technology). It’s what inspired me to take the Computer Aided Drafting and Design classes at Grumman Data Systems. Getting a Draftsman position with an Audiovisual Integrator – along with my desire to understand the workings of the technology involved – became a natural fit for me – & I have loved this industry ever since!
CAPTUS: Tell us a little bit about your career path:
JOHN: My first jobs were local retail establishments, which helped to mold my ability to work with customers face-to-face, & to understand how to assist them in getting what they wanted. I then started working more in the mechanical industry, which led me to understand the effects of time, & exactly what a client pays for.
After taking time off to go to school, I worked at an interior design firm in NYC, which helped me to acquire knowledge in construction.
Since 1992, I’ve been working solely in the AV industry (Tamco Systems, Ace Audiovisual, Audio Command Systems, Ace Communications, JVN Systems, TriTech Communications, HMBA, & now at CAPTUS SYSTEMS). I’ve watched the industry change from barely being able to get a computer to display on a projector – to wireless technology, AV over IT, PC based video conferencing, 4K to 8K video and beyond! It’s been an exciting ride and I can’t wait to see where this all goes!
CAPTUS: Name at least two interests outside your work in the AV Industry that the folks reading this might find interesting about you:
JOHN: Sports & Sports History – I love filling my brain with some of the more interesting stories about sports competitions on the field, & the formation of teams and leagues off the field. On one of my projects, there was a construction manager who wore an Oakland Raiders hard hat. I explained to him the origins of both the league they started-in & of the team itself. It got to the point where every time I showed up on the job site, I would have to give him another historical insight about the team or the league they came from. This guy wound-up having groups of guys gather around me, to hear me tell the stories again. (Unfortunately, my presence held-up project progress!)
On the “sports participation” side of things, I was a former college athlete with opportunities to try-out for a spot on a United States Olympic team.
And on the completely opposite side of the spectrum…I love to draw, & have done many charcoal & pencil drawings – a talent & gift that I inherited from my late father.
Our CAPTUS SYSTEMS Team is bursting with experts & leaders in the AV field – & we’re also just a nice bunch of people! John is a seasoned, talented engineer who brings both his expertise & his enthusiasm to the job. Let CAPTUS SYSTEMS help you to reach your Audio-Visual goals…it’s what we do best!
